VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR 2025!

Please check back in Feb. 2026

At ROW, we are 100% volunteer operated, which means that the animals in our care, and the humans on our team, count on volunteers to take this role as seriously as they would any paid position. Every task that we complete, from animal care to building enclosures, is carried out by generous folks who donate their time. Without a dedicated network of hard-working volunteers, we could not advance our mission of rescuing injured, orphaned, and sick wildlife.

The main role carried out by volunteers is animal care. Our Care Team offers hands-on opportunities to work with wildlife. This includes tasks such as preparing diets, feeding animals, cleaning enclosures, receiving new patients and greeting the public, daily maintenance “housekeeping” tasks, and assisting with the care of animals at our facility. It's a rewarding way to support wildlife rehabilitation and make a direct impact. Animal care shifts are from 8am-12pm, Monday-Saturday, with after-hours, Sunday, and holiday shifts offered to fully trained volunteers. This is a rain or shine role, as animals need care 365 days a year.

Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Commit to a minimum of least one full shift per week, every week
  • This role requires the ability to stand, walk on uneven surfaces, squat/kneel, lift up to fifteen pounds, work in all weather conditions, and be comfortable working near wild animals (unless reasonable accommodation is requested in advance).
  • Exhibit a genuine love for Florida’s wildlife and a willingness to learn how to work with various species.
